DONEGAL TRAVELLERS IS RECRUITING FOR THE POSITION OF
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND MEN?S HEALTH WORKER (6-MONTH CONTRACT)
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POST
To implement a community development culturally appropriate response
to the social determinants of health as they impact on the Traveller
Community in particular Traveller men across the county.
KEY TASKS
* To continue to update and identify the needs and challenges
impacting on the health and well-being of Traveller men.
* To implement a community neighbourhood work model to build
professional working relationships based on trust and respect with the
Traveller community.
* To develop initiatives/programmes/events which promote the
participation and address the marginalisation and isolation
experienced by Traveller men.
* To work with other health and wellbeing services across the county
and regionally.
* To work to address the accommodation challenges as experienced by
the Traveller community including homelessness using a community
development approach.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
* Experience and understanding of community development
* Experience of working or placed in a community organisation
* Relevant qualifications/experience in community development or
related social science field.
* Good interpersonal skills
* Commitment to equality, anti-racism and human rights.
This post is **Apply on the website** hours per week and a county wide
position. Salary will be in line with company salary scales and funded
by the HSE. The main office is Port House, Port Road, Letterkenny with
a second office in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. The job is employed by
Donegal Travellers Project CLG and successful applicant is required to
hold a full clean driver?s license and access to a car/transport.
